OFC Champions League Trophy
DESCRIPTION
The Oceania Football Confederation is the confederation that brings together the various football federations of the Oceania continent and the islands of the Pacific Ocean . It was chaired by David Chung (PNG) elected in 2004 and re-elected in 2007 until 2018. The headquarters of the federation is located in Auckland , New Zealand . In 1998, OFC acquired a new logo (the current logo) and a news magazine, The Wave.
OFC's international record is limited by the fact that it has not automatically qualified for the World Cup . Indeed, for several cups, the Oceanian federations play in two pools, then a final, and finally the national team which emerges from it must play a jump-off against a team of a confederation generally considered stronger ( South America for example). Thus, only Australia in 1974 and 2006, and New Zealand in 1982 and 2010 participated in the first round of a World Cup. Although Australia qualified for the 2006 World Cup as an OFC member, they have since January 1 2006 , joined the Asian Football Confederation , in order to make, according to her, her next qualifying tournaments easier.
A continental competition is organized between the national teams: the Oceania Cup and the Women's Oceania Cup . For clubs, there is the Oceania Champions League .
